Who this course is for
- Help desk and IT support staff moving into networking
- Junior network administrators and NOC technicians
- System administrators who need stronger network skills
- Students and career changers aiming for a Cisco certification
Before you start
Cisco sets no formal prerequisites for the CCNA. A basic grasp of how computers connect to a network will help, and so will hands-on time with routers and switches, either real kit or a simulator, as you go through the labs.
This is a long course, so set a steady study plan. Work through one area at a time, repeat each configuration yourself, and use the 299 test questions to find weak spots before you book your exam. Subnetting and routing come up again and again, so practise them until they feel easy.
About the 200-301 exam
The 200-301 exam leads to the CCNA, Cisco’s associate-level networking certification. It checks that you can install, set up, run and troubleshoot Cisco networks. Cisco tests six areas: network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, IP services, security fundamentals, and automation and programmability. This course follows those same six areas, so your study lines up with what Cisco expects.
The CCNA is often the first Cisco certification people earn. It gives a strong base for more advanced Cisco paths, such as the CCNP Enterprise track, and for related fields such as network security.

Frequently asked questions
What does the CCNA 200-301 exam cover?
Cisco tests six areas: network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, IP services, security fundamentals, and automation and programmability. This course is built around those same areas.
Do I need any certification before the CCNA?
No. Cisco sets no formal prerequisites. Some basic networking knowledge, such as what CompTIA Network+ covers, makes the course easier to follow.
Is the CCNA good for a first networking job?
Yes. It is an associate-level certification that shows employers you can set up and fix small to medium networks, which suits roles such as network support technician or junior network engineer.
Will I need to practise on Cisco equipment?
Hands-on practice helps a lot. You can use real routers and switches or a network simulator to repeat the configurations shown in the lessons.
Does the CCNA include network automation?
Yes. Automation and programmability is one of the six exam areas, so the course covers network automation and APIs.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. You get a StemBoss Certificate of Completion when you finish the course.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days if you have completed less than 20% of the course. See our refund policy for details. Read the refund policy.
