The course is split into three parts. The first covers planning server deployment, upgrades, Virtual Machine Manager and storage. The third covers Active Directory design, from forests and domains to sites, domain controllers and branch offices.

Microsoft exam 70-413, Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure, tested your ability to plan and build server, network and Active Directory infrastructure at scale. Microsoft retired it on 31 January 2021 along with the other MCSA, MCSD and MCSE exams. The design thinking it teaches still applies to on-premises and hybrid networks.
