Before you start
There are no formal entry rules for the CCSK. The CSA advises that you should have at least a basic understanding of security topics such as firewalls, secure development, encryption, and identity and access management. Some experience with any cloud platform will make the lessons easier to follow.
About the CCSK exam
The CCSK is issued by the Cloud Security Alliance, a non-profit body that sets cloud security best practice. It shows that you have a broad, unbiased understanding of how to secure data in the cloud. Because it is vendor-neutral, the knowledge applies to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and other providers. The current version, CCSK v5, is built on twelve domains, from cloud concepts and governance to identity and access management, data security, application security and incident response. Check the CSA website for the latest exam details before you book.
The CCSK also works well as a stepping stone. ISC2 accepts the CCSK in place of one year of the work experience it asks for before you can hold the more advanced CCSP. That makes this course a useful first step if you plan to build a long-term career in cloud security.
