Who this course is for

  • Junior Linux administrators who want to firm up their skills
  • IT support staff who are starting to look after Linux machines

Before you start

Some basic Linux knowledge is useful but not required. You should be happy using a keyboard-driven tool and installing software, as the first module walks you through setting up a VirtualBox lab. A general IT course such as CompTIA A+ or IT Fundamentals is a helpful first step if you are new to IT.

About the LX0-101 and LX0-102 exams

LX0-101 and LX0-102 are the two exams for an earlier version of the CompTIA Linux+ certification, which CompTIA developed with the Linux Professional Institute (LPI). Together they checked that a candidate could install and run Linux, manage software and files, handle users, set up basic networking and apply core security. CompTIA has since replaced these exam codes with newer Linux+ exams, so check comptia.org for the current version before you book. The admin skills taught here still apply to modern Linux systems.
