Before you start
This is an advanced course. It assumes you already work in security and know the basics of networks, systems and risk. To earn the full CISSP, ISC2 asks for five years of paid, cumulative work in information security. Check the ISC2 website for the latest rules on experience and waivers, as these can change. If you are new to security, start with an entry-level course such as ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity or CompTIA Security+.
About the CISSP exam
The CISSP is issued by ISC2, an international, non-profit body for cybersecurity professionals. It is one of the best-known senior security credentials and shows that you can lead and manage security across a whole organisation, not just one technical area. The exam is built on eight domains: security and risk management; asset security; security architecture and engineering; communication and network security; identity and access management; security assessment and testing; security operations; and software development security. It is vendor-neutral, so it is not tied to any one product or platform. It was the first information security credential to meet the ISO/IEC 17024 standard.

Frequently asked questions
What experience do I need for the CISSP?
ISC2 asks for five years of paid, cumulative work in information security to earn the full credential. Check the ISC2 website for current waiver rules.
What are the eight CISSP domains?
Security and risk management, asset security, security architecture and engineering, communication and network security, identity and access management, security assessment and testing, security operations, and software development security.
Is CISSP a technical or a management certification?
It is both. It covers technical areas such as networks, cryptography and access control, but focuses on designing and managing a full security programme.
Should I take Security+ before CISSP?
If you are new to security, yes. CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity build the base that CISSP expects.
What can I study after the CISSP?
Many CISSP holders add the CCSP for cloud security or CISM for security management.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. You get a StemBoss Certificate of Completion when you finish the course.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days if you have completed less than 20% of the course. See our refund policy for details. Read the refund policy.
